I got ADSL2 activated in my new home yesterday and it synched 3727 at 6.0dB SNRM. Today I found out that the SNRM raised to around 8.0dB when I connected my netbook to the router via a 1m ethernet cable. This raised further to 10.db when I connected a Sony Blu-Ray player to the router as well.
Also worth mentioning that the 1,200 CRC errors I had per 15minutes has now dropped to between 0 - 10 errors per 15 minutes once the ethernet devices were connected.
Why is plugging in ethernet devices making my phone line run at a better quality? While it's a nice thing, it would potentially make my line unstable if the connected ethernet devices (blu-ray player for instance) at the router were switched off at any time if I was to resynch at the better SNRM margin.

When I first got my 7800N, wiring up used to double my SNRM but at the time, it was running quite low late at night on wireless (0.4 - 0.9dB) and used to wire up when browsing started to get laggy which gives better screening.
I raised this with Billion tech support and as they were unable to replicate it with their equipment (their's only recording about a 1dB increase), they had no answer.
I eventually just put it down to perhaps local interference and using Xirrus and inSSIDer, changed to channel 4 as well as fitting a High Speed ADSL cable and occasional use of a 2m cat6 ethernet cable.
I can still get a high error count at times which could be down to a buggy line or local interference, but as it's very rare that my SNRM drops below 2.6dB these days, I only wire up when I reboot the router or am downloading drivers and sometimes when I feel it's starting to lag and clearing the cache doesn't resolve.

Hmm, it is pretty strange.
Fortunately it looks like it still increases even when the attached ethernet device like a Blu-Ray player is off (or it might be in standby). And the powerline adapter will be always-on too.
I never noticed this before until now as I used to have the router in my room at the old house with all my PC's/PS3 connected to it.
