I have two gigabit switches connected to the 7800N, a 4 port Netgear (GS605) and a 16 port Netgear (GS116). Only the GS605 connects at Gigabit speed though over a 1m patch cable. The GS116 is connected over a longer 10m perhaps 5e cable which I have checked with a tester and it seems fine.
i.e. the GS605 has a green light and the GS116 has yellow. I cant recall which sockets they are connected to but I think all the sockets are gigabit right ?
Any thoughts ?

Re: Gigabit Switches
There is 1 socket that isn't gigabit & that's the ewan port which doubles as an ethernet port.

Re: Gigabit Switches
I have a little TP-Link switch which refused to connect at gigabit speeds, but I'm putting this down to poor quality cabling more than anything else... It was originally 20m long and my laptop and the aforementioned switch only connected at 100Mbps when using this cable. I only needed less than 12m, so I chopped off the excess cable and crimped it again and it now intermittently works at gigabit speed.
The cable itself was shockingly bad when I bared the wires - really thin, puny feeling wires and an extremely thin outer layer... I'd put money on this being the cause of the poor quality connection!
Moral of the story is, there's a reason cheap cabling on Amazon is so cheap!

Yes the cable does have a inline coupler as well which is no doubt troublesome too. I have gone for a Krone type in line coupler now and will see how things pan out . I also re-crimp new plugs and see how we go... problem now is my other switch is also playing up
