7800 reporting as a 7800N

Post by andy@mview.me.uk »

This seems strange - my 7800 reports itself as a 7800N (running firmware 1.06g). There are no wirless configutration options showing in the admin pages, just the ones I would expect for the 7800.

If I try to change the firmware to a 7800 firmware, it says the new firmware is an illegal version.

The router works fine, but I am still a little perplexed (and would proably be happier if it thought it was a 7800).

Any suggestions?

PS its second hand, so I don't know the history.

Can you post the first four digits of your serial number so I can confirm the model number.

Yep that serial number is from a Bipac 7800, strange that the unit has 7800N firmware, normally the firmware is locked to avoid upgrading to the incorrect firmware.

You are on the newest firmware 1.06g already and as this is not causing any issues, I would suggest just leaving it as is, as you can always upgrade to by using 7800N firmware when future firmware releases are released.
