Hello folks, as the title says two out of three times I reboot my 7800N it restarts with factory settings and with the DSL light flashing. Just as if it had been reset. This is despite it being set to reboot with current settings in the System menu. I'm also having the occasional problem where it seems to lose all firewall rules for access to my Synology NAS. Setting the rules up manually or going through the NAS menu which uses UPnP to set the rules in the router doesn't seem to make any difference. I have had to set the router up from scratch three times in the last couple of weeks following reboots when the router seemed to be having problems granting access to folders on my NAS from outside my own network. I have now got a backup of the config on a USB stick just in case!
I have upgraded the firmware to 1.06 and have also done a manual reset to clear out any old configurations but the problem persists.
I also don't use the ports preferring to use a Netgear 4 port gigabit switch to do the heavy lifting between my laptop downstairs and my NAS upstairs so as far as I can tell the router is not overheating. Also 90% of the time I use ethernet as opposed to wireless.
The router is just over two years old having been bought from Amazon UK in Feb 2011 and is far and away the best router I have ever used. I do not want to replace it without making an effort to see if there is something simple I am missing.

Which firmware version are you on?? eg 1.06e, 1.06g?
What web browser are you using??
Is your WAN settings still there once the device has been rebooted?

Firmware is 1.06H...installed a few days ago following the same problems with 1.06G.
Web browser? Firefox mainly or Dolphin if I'm using my phone. Do you mean which browser to access the router's settings page?
Wan settings are reset back to factory settings. ie I'm on BT Infinity so I use the EWAN port. When the router is restarted the EWAN port is not in use and the DSL light is flashing. None of the settings entered before restarting are there. It's as if the router has performed it's own reset.

Try using IE (internet explorer) and make sure you clear all web browsing history/cache mem etc before trying the resstart with current settings

Ok I will give that a go but not sure why? I have two laptops that I use to access the router's settings page, one running a dual boot and this problem has appeared with all of them. Win 7, Win 8 and Ubuntu 12.10. The only common denominator is that I use Firefox on all three.
