Weirdness after upgrade to 1.06g

Post by giskard »

I've noticed something a bit odd with my 7800N, though it all works fine now.

When I last configured my 7800N after upgrading the firmware to 1.06g, I had my BitTorrent client pc configured to have a fixed IP address (via the DHCP static config page), the same as that configured in the Virtual Server config for BitTorrent traffic, but now I've found that the DHCP static IP address entry - 192.168.1.66 - for that pc has disappeared from the DHCP status page and the IP address of the pc is now reported as 192.168.1.140, which I've confirmed using ipconfig on Windows 7 cmd prompt. When I tried to add the 192.168.1.66 static IP address in the router DHCP config, I get an error saying that the address is invalid.

BitTorrent still works on the PC though and when investigating why, I noticed that ipconfig reports that the DHCP-assigned ipv4 address is 192.168.1.140, but the gateway IP is 192.168.1.66. My Windows 7 laptop reports it's IP gateway as 192.168.1.254 but it has never had a static IP assigned and isn't used as a virtual server client/destination.

So I'm guessing that things have changed with the 7800N since I updated the firmware?

But I'm still wondering how I was able to enter in the very same router config options after the 1.06g upgrade after the router restarted. I did notice that the router uptime is around 16 days whereas I did the firmware u/g last year so could it have possibly restarted itself and in the process changed how the Virtual server and DHCP/static IP assignment works?

Just curious...

Upgrade to firmware 1.06h.

Once upgrade you will need to reset back to factory default settings which is MUST.

Once upgraded and resetted test again.

Thanks

Errm, given the issues with 1.06h, no thanks.

The router is working fine so I'll leave it at that, but what I was really asking was, has the DHCP behaviour of the 7800N changed in 1.06g?

Not that I am aware of, there is no reported issues with 1.06h.

After you upgraded to 1.06g did you perform a reset back to factory default settings, and then manually reconfigure your device again?

Yes, as I think I stated in my original post. There are a number of posts that acknowledge issues with 1.06h

Can you send me a link to these posts, the only issue that I am aware of is the DHCP table that shows up blank after a while, we are working on solving this issue
