I've noticed an issue where the 5GHz Wifi's throughput drops to a very low level, when the router has been up for a while. This came to light when my daughter complained that she couldn't watch any 'catch up' TV. Her TV is the only device connected to the router's wifi, so it isn't a contention issue, and when I connected the TV to the 2.4GHz wifi, all was fine. Is anybody else seeing this behaviour?
Note: The TV is about 3M max from the router, so it isn't a signal strength issue.

Try changing the 5ghz channel or setting it to Auto and the 'Auto Channel Timer' to 1440 (which means it will scan for wireless interference every 24 hours)evansnp wrote:I've noticed an issue where the 5GHz Wifi's throughput drops to a very low level, when the router has been up for a while. Hi Billion_Fan. I'm the only person locally using 5G, so I have it all to myself, so I don't think that it's a clash of channels. However, if you think that setting the autoscan will 'kick' the Wifi service every now and then, then I shall give it a try.

Would the router run hotter on 5GHz than on 2.4GHz or would there be no difference ?
When routers get hot, that can slow down the speed and as this is a time related problem - that came to mind, so just asking.
