Help connecting a Netgear R7000 to 8800NL

Post by Audioboxer »

Hey guys,

Love the 8800NL as a modem, but the wireless isn't great. Just picked up an R7000. Do I need to setup anything in bridge mode, or do I just turn off wireless on the 8800NL and plug in the R7000?

Cheers

I have a similar set up - I have an apple time machine in one ethernet of my 8800 AXL and it provides the wifi - it is in bridge mode - so I assume you have to do the same.

Thanks! Any guides for setting this up? I have Sky Fiber if that helps.

Ah yeah I did for the R7000. Was more so about setting up the 8800NL as it's functioning as the modem. I got the R7000 today and plugged it in and it seems to be working without changing anything, other than turning the wireless off on the 8800NL. Maybe I don't need to do anything else. The two are connected with an ethernet cable.

Another thread mentioned the guides on the Billion UK site: http://www.billion.uk.com/edu/VDSL2/index.html

I have also just purchased a R7000 which I currently have connected to a (BT Openreach) Huawei HG612 which provides no line information (unless unlocked then running a number a scripts / 3 party UI).

I'd be keen to know how you get on with running the Billion 8800NL (as VDSL Modem) together with the R7000 as I am considering replacing the Huawei with a Billion 8800NL ?

Thanks, Tech Dude.
