DNS for LAN computers
On my old router (Linksys) I was able to get name resoultion for device names on the local LAN. I do have a WINS server running on the network and the DHCP settings allowed me to broadcast this information to the DHCP clients. I could then, for example, ping NAS-BOX and get a result from my local NAS drive. With my new 7800N I have configured openDNS server adresses in the connection setup and then ticked the use router as for DNS lookup in the DHCP settings. The result is that local address names always seem to get passsed to the openDNS serers which then returns an error page. Is there a way I can reproduce the previous routers behaviour with the 7800 so that DNS is not used for the LAN devices?

Re: DNS for LAN computers
Try putting the devices you want to ping into the 'Fixed Host' option under the DHCP server.
You will need to know the MAC addresses of the devices you want to add to the fixed host.
Here is a guide to help configure the fixed host option on the router.

Or have you tried to use a different DNS server eg google DNS server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Thanks
