Under what circumstances should this setting be used?

Post by gatekeeper »

I refer to the "LAN side firewall" configuration setting found at Configuration > LAN > LAN Parameters.

Under what circumstances should this be enabled? Is it meant for a particular and separate router and modem physical arrangement, or has it a meaningful use also for the 8800NL when the latter's a combined router-and-modem? Can't find any description of "LAN side firewall" in the 8800 user manual. Is it conceivably referring to a setup where an additional piece of firewall hardware is placed between the 8800 and the user's network?

LAN side firewall should only be used when isolating wireless guest networks, or port isolation, (this feature when enabled will block a isolation group from the main group, and also block access to the web gui)
