VPN Assistance Required

Post by bathingape »

Hi there - i'm trying to configure the VPN section of the 7800N so that I can access my home network from outside. I have attached screen shots of my configuration and have also read the setup posts too but I can't get mines to work. I have tried both on Windows and MAC to try and connect but no luck.

Can anyone please assist?

Have you tried testing off a remote connection, so not when you are on the internal network? (try using a iphone/android running off a 3g/4G connection)

thanks - I just tried from a Windows 7 machine from work and I get an '800' error:

The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server might be unreachable. If this connection is attempting to use an L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the security parameters required for IPsec negotiation might not be configured properly.

Struggling with this now :/

When you setup your VPN tunnel, and it asked for a VPN server address, did you put the WAN IP address of the router, not the internal address 192.168.0.1??

Your settings look identical to mine, and mine is working fine (also using OSX).
